Welcome to the world of Lu Renjie

I feel fortunate to be an inheritor of Chinese civilization. I do not have to learn Chinese from scratch (friends abroad tell me how difficult it is), change my way of thinking through yin, yang and the five elements, or happen upon the classics by chance. The wisdom that seeks to explain the great workings of heaven and earth is rooted in the land where I was born. It offers another perspective from which to understand the world.How extraordinarily fortunate.There is a kind of affinity that seems destined. It arrives unnoticed, yet looking back, its traces are clear. Through what we call coincidence, I read the I Ching when I was young. At first it was simply curiosity: I read without a purpose, and soon forgot what I had read, remembering only yin and yang and the taiji symbol. At the age when my worldview was taking shape, the I Ching quietly became part of how I thought, while art became my reference for understanding the world. This way of thinking through yin and yang, together with the perspective art offers, gradually revealed to me the balance within all things.But as my understanding deepened, I slowly came to feel that balance itself was the real constraint. So I began searching for something beyond balance. I searched for decades.If there is anything outside the rules of balance, perhaps it is boundless love. Like the sun, it is there whether you accept it or not, shining upon the earth. There is no hatred in that radiance; it does not even know that it loves. It seems to exist beyond balance.My works are much the same: whether you like them or not, they are there. Ha! Forgive my vanity.Enough chatting.
