Chinese Dragon

A dragon follows the course of the Yangtze through eleven provinces. Behind it, 1,800 panels arrange national intangible cultural heritage in a satellite-map-like composition. Begun in 2012, the painting remained in progress at the time of the portfolio.

At 2.5 metres high, the painting uses a satellite-map composition to evoke eleven provincial-level regions along the Yangtze. A field of 1,800 cells is devoted to intangible cultural heritage.

The artist’s 2026 portfolio describes this work, begun in 2012, as unfinished. Image colours differ from the physical painting.
